Our Valentine Boutique and Luncheon will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Mill Valley Community Center. Please join with friends, enjoy a delicious lunch by Insalata’s, learn more about the work of Adopt A Family and find the perfect Valentine gift. Vendors donate a percentage of sales to Adopt A Family.

The midday boutique begins at 10:30 and ends at 2:30. The Luncheon and Program starts at 12 noon. Come early for time to shop!

A thousand thanks to our incredible holiday donors and volunteers who provided holiday gifts to over 250 families this season.

Thank you to volunteers from National Charity League, Marin Community Foundation, Ross Valley Women’s League and friends of Adopt A Family. You were an integral part of this year’s program success.

Our holiday program is in full swing with over 200 families adopted. We still have wish lists waiting to be filled and would welcome additional donors who would like to “adopt” a family for the holidays. You can reach the holiday line at (415) 456-7805, ext. 11 or fill out Holiday Donor Form. Someone will contact you during regular business hours to match you with a family in need.

We are also in need of food and holiday gift cards and welcome your year-end financial contributions!

Welcome to our Holiday Season of Giving at Adopt A Family!

The Holiday Program for 2011 begins accepting requests for holiday assistance October 17, 2011. The program is only open to already existing Adopt A Family clients in Marin County, California. If you are not already a client, please dial 211 from a land line for a list of agencies that provide holiday assistance. If you have been a client of our program and want to be considered for Holiday Assistance, please call (415) 456-7805, ext. 14. We will call everyone back as soon as possible, but please understand that we cannot guarantee assistance to everyone.

We accept donor requests to help families at any time. We encourage donors who may not want to “adopt a family” for the holidays to provide gift cards or vouchers which can be used for food or household items at the holidays and throughout the year.

All of the families helped by our agency over the holidays have been recently helped by Adopt A Family.

Most families pick up their gifts, and are assisted by a team of volunteers who wrap, carry and deliver – helping to bring a holiday of joy to a family in need.

Holiday assistance at the agency is provided by volunteers from the community, members of the Ross Valley Women’s League and National Charity League volunteer teams.

The Ross Valley Women’s League’s gala evening in support of Adopt A Family will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2011 in the beautiful gardens of a home in Ross, and will include specialty cocktails, fine wines, dinner and dancing, plus exciting live and silent auctions.

Celebrate and Help A Family on Sunday March 20

Join the St. Joseph’s Table dinner at Insalata’s on March 20 to celebrate and help families. This dinner supports the St. Anselm’s Adopt-a-Family program and Adopt A Family of Marin. These organizations have worked together for many years to support Marin families in need.

“St. Joseph is the patron saint of families, the needy, the homeless, and pastry cooks,” says chef and owner Heidi Krahling. “He is honored on his feast day with a bountiful meal, cena di San Giuseppe. Legend has it that the people of Sicily began praying to St. Joseph begging him to intercede in a terrible drought and famine. In return, they promised to celebrate his feast day by having special altars, abundant in food, that would be shared with all people. Their prayers were answered and Sicilians have celebrated this holiday through the generations. Families are making our celebration part of their traditions, as the food is kid-friendly and luscious for all. The event is a favorite, too, for all of us at the restaurant.”

The dinner buffet is available from 5 to 9 p.m. and includes seafood, roast lamb, pork, as well as Insalata’s signature tapas, mezze, and antipasti. A dessert buffet in keeping with the spirit of pastry chef’s honored patron saint will include Italian treats and sweets.The price for adults is $42 and for children under 12, $15.
